Sustainability

Our tips for a more sustainable FSHD Connect Europe

Global warming and climate change are serious major concerns worldwide. As organization, we feel social responsibility to reduce our CO2 footprint as much as we can. Especially air traveling strongly contributes to CO2 emission. We would like to give attention to sustainability for this FSHD Connect Europe patient conference, with the hope that this focus continues in future editions. Our goals are:

- Going low-paper

- Reduce plastic waste

- Offset CO2 emission

- Create awareness

Low-paper

We will print handouts and programbooklets on paper, but we will also provide all information online via the website. We encourage you to make notes on your tablet or laptop. In the unfortunate case printing is inevitable, FSC paper will be used.

Plastic waste

We won’t serve drinks or food in plastic disposables. We recommend bringing your own water container, which you can fill at several taps at the venue.

Venue Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam

The venue is highly committed to sustainability on several levels. The Leonardo Hotels Group has developed a comprehensive, long-term sustainability strategy. The strategy is built around three key pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG). For the Leonardo Hotels Group, these pillars are known as Protecting Our Planet (Environment), Investing in People (Social), and Driving Change (Governance). For each pillar, the Leonardo Hotels Group has set long-term ambitions.

Traveling

We strongly recommend coming by train if you can reach our venue within 7 hours of travel. International train tickets are often cheaper when you buy them in advance.

We encourage you to use public transportation in the Netherlands, including Amsterdam. Information about public transportation can be found under practical info> travel information and on www.ns.nl/en or www.9292ov.nl/en.

Offset carbon emission

We offer you the possibility to calculate your travel CO2 emission and offset this with the next option: Trees for All is a certified Dutch non-profit organization, which plants trees all over the world. Please use this link and our campaign code “FSHD Connect Europe” for offset.
